HEADER and FOOTER only non-ShopSite Store, Static pages....

Postby dZi » Wed Apr 16, 2008 8:10 am

Hello,

I have many informational pages on my site and when I do an update to the Header and Footer in the Shopsite Backoffice, I also have to find an easy way of doing it to my non Backoffice tied pages. This usually requires alot of time Copying and Pasting Header and Footer HTML Code into my pages.

For example, is there any possible way to have a Universal Header and Footer that can be called from a Static, Dreamweaver type created HTML page?

Otherwise, everytime I change my menu, it is quite along process to make all of my information pages consistent with all of my shop pages.

Thanks,

-Rob

I guess I will just continue to copy and paste html one by one until I find an easier way. It's difficult trying to maintain a dynamic site with static html pages.

Have you thought of creating all your pages in ShopSite? Create a custom page template that has your overall look and then use the the text 1, text 2, text 3 fields for you informational content. That way you can use the same header and footer on all pages.

I've used the functionality of ShopSite to do many things including a student directory with each student being a "product" and used a custom product template to put just the name and picture a main students page. Each picture and name linked to a moreinformation page for that student that contained information about their interests, address, larger picture etc. It worked out great. I even put it all on a cd so each student could have a copy as a keepsake.
