Want to auto fill shipping amount w/ no Drop Down

Postby tnick » Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:33 pm

Currently I use the Paypal shopping cart. I'm almost ready to launch my new website with shop site.

Here is my questions.

On my site now, the shipping is auto calculated based on a cost profile I have set up in Paypal. The customer does not choose from a drop-down menu. If so, they would most likely choose the incorrect amount.

I want to do the same with Shop Site. I can set up the cost based but it shows up as a drop down menu, thus giving the customer the opportunity to choose the wrong amount.

Is there a way for it to just calculate based on my cost table and auto fill in the shipping area without customer choosing?

Thanks!

Under Commerce Setup > Shipping
you would configure the Shipping by Currency settings for each price range. By default there are 3 shipping options selected (ground, 2nd day air, next day) you can uncheck two of these so there is only on option. (note the name can be changed under Preferences > Store Text > Shipping)
By using only one shipping option the pull down would only have the one name in it so they wouldn't be able to select a different option.

If you don't want the pull down box at all you could select the "Display Shipping Options As:" "Radio button" option on the main Commerce Setup > Shipping screen. Also select the "Default Selected Shipping Option " as First Displayed Option so the shipping option will automatically be used on the cart.

One small problem I forgot to mention. I have three shipping rates, One for US, One for Canada/Mexico, One for all other international. How paypal works is it's set up in my profile. I selected the US and internatinal options, they click if they are Canada, Mexico or other and that's how it calculates. I don't see an option within Shop Site to do that.

I may just have to go w/ those three and take it from there but would like to avoid if possible.
