Google Product Search (Froogle) error with Shopsite 9.0.3.1

Postby dlundell » Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:25 pm

I just upgraded from 8.x to 9.0.3 today, and sent my first
Product Search (was Froogle) feed with the new version.

I got an email back with a report of the errors (these are new - it
was fine with the previous version of Shopsite):

Each item has an error similar to the following:

You must enter an item title. Title is a required attribute.
We didn't understand this attribute. Please use a valid attribute name.
title:Elastikon elastic tape
This is not one of the accepted data types for custom attributes.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks,

Google base upload used to be correct w/ previous version 9.0.2 -- my host has upgraded to 9.0.3 and now I get the same errors as mentioned in the previous post.

If you want, you can ask your host to restore you to v9.0.2, but I really don't think that would make any difference, in fact I am almost certain that your feeds would still be rejected because of their changes regarding the weight field.

But I doubt that v9.0.3 caused your problem, anyway. I think it just so happens that Google has recently made a bunch of changes (i.e. screw-ups) to the feed processors so that the same data that was accepted before is now no longer working.

I just installed a 9.0.2 store and compared the feed from that version to the 9.0.3 version and they were identical. So any failure of feeds is because Google has changed something on their end not that something in ShopSite has changed.

The only difference in ShopSite froogle feed between 9.0.2 and 9.0.3 was the addition of an option to not send the weight field for a product because google had changed what they wanted for that value before 9.0.3 was release.

I guess we'll wait for Google/Shopsite to sort it out.

This morning I received a feed failure email. I logged into our Google Base account and see the following:

Since we havent changed anything, I would assume that Google has changed the specs for the feed again.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks

Yes, google base errors

Postby 88man1 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 7:00 pm

I have been seeing these same type errors mentioned above since around the first of April. I've been emailing back and forth w/ google and still no solution or reason why the errors are happening. Prior to April, I was able to upload the xml with no problems through shopsite. Now I can only get 25 out of 525 to upload and it shows errors.

So, today out of curiosity I figured I'd try to upload my old .txt file that I used to send prior to shopsite offering the froogle feature and it uploaded perfect with zero errors. Hopefully google will help me eventually get back on track (or get their stuff on track)

How does a company like Google make 1.5 BILLION dollars in the Q1 2008 and not have a direct telephone number into a help desk or customer service ?
Hmmmm.
