Moving Location of Digital Download

Postby royhink » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:51 pm

I've just been asked to move the location of the digital download files to another hard drive on the server.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

NO. The directory must be in the store's data directory.

It may be possible to create a symlink in the "downloads" directory to another directory/drive to store more digital download files.

I appreciate the help, Thanks.

So, How would I set up the smylink? I'm on win 2003 server. The info I found on symlinks refer only to unix, and suggests that I can't do this on win.

I've got 3 stores data directories on this D:/ drive, my IT guy just installed new drives and called it F:/ There is not enough space on D:/ to upload my digital product files.

What it sounds like is a reinstall. It doesn't look like I can simply move the data directories to a new drive.

Can I reinstall my 3rd store as a new install onto F:/ and keep my other stores where they are? Any problems with multiple installs?

Just to finish cycle on this topic, I ran the shopsite installer and saw that I could modify the store settings.

I changed the location of the data file, copied it from the old location to the new, and voilà, it worked.

Not quite what you asked for in your original question though. What you did moved the entire data directory and not just the "digital download files". But if that works for you, great.
