Changing the Location of where pages are located.

Postby dZi » Fri Mar 28, 2008 12:51 pm

I would like to move all of my pages to and have them generated by shopsite in a different folder than my root directory. I would like to password protect them all. Is there a way to change the location of the generated pages.

ShopSite generates pages in the location specified by the url in the license file for the store <storeid>.auth. So generally you need to get a new .auth file created for the location that you want the files created.

My host told me it was as simple as allowing permissions to write in the directory I want to move them to and then adding the directory to the File name on the Pages and More Info Pages.

So basically I would just enter /directoryiwanttomoveto/ in the file name field of every page and moreinfo pages.

This didn't seem to work though, so I will have to look into what you had mentioned today and will update this post after I talk with my host.

As I said before the location of the files must be where the url for you license file points. To use the /directoryiwanttomoveto/ it would have to be a subdirectory of the authorized store url. The /directoryiwanttomoveto/ can not be in some other location unless /directoryiwanttomoveto/ is in the correct location and it is a symlink to the directory where you want the files to be. Note that in the file name field you would have to use directoryiwanttomoveto/ without the leading / or it won't work.

If you want the files in some other location you have 2 options.
1- Get a new license file that contains the url to the path where the files are located.
2- make the location where the current license file points be a symlink to the path where your files will be located.
