FREE Shipping Notification

If I have enabled a FREE Shipping Threshold, is there a way to make FREE Shipping the default option in the shopping cart rather then having the customer select it from the drop down? If not, is there a way to get a "Your order qualifies for FREE Shipping" notice to display?

FREE Shipping Notification

You could go under Commerce Set-up--Shipping and set "Shipping Option Sort Order" to "Ascending by Cost" (hence putting "FREE" at the top of the list) then set "Default Selected Shipping option" to "First Displayed option."

To display a "Your order Qualifies for FREE Shipping" Notice, you could use a Javascript to check the order subtotal and write in such a statement if the order is over the threshold. I wrote something similar to warn that orders over a certain amount require a signature upon delivery.

There still seems to be a problem. I set up the shipping options and this works great if the initial product selected is over the threshold. If not, and I continue shopping, once the threshold is reached or if a recalculate the cart to exceed the threshold, the first shipping option when the total was below the threshold remains the default instead of changing to free shipping.
Any work around for that?
