Visitor discount question

My client wants to provide customers with a particular product for FREE with a minimum of a $40 purchase of a different (specific) product. Is this possible? Where in the ShopSite control panel might I do this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you have ShopSite Pro v8.0 or newer, the feature to use for this would be the Reward Program feature, configured under Merchandising -> Reward Program.

First you would need to create categories a couple of categories the Reward Program feature and assign products to those categories. After you create the categories, you would then create a new Reward and choose one of the categories as the qualifying category and one as the reward category for that Reward. The Reward is configured so that for every X number of products in the qualifying category the shopper purchases, they can add 1 product from the reward category to the cart for free.
