Opera and digital download links

A customer of ours had a problem downloading a digital download file from
the Thank You page after purchase. He is running Opera version 8.54 on
WinXP. When he clicked the download link initially, it brought up a page
with a missing plug-in error. He then right clicked the link and chose save
target. The file was successfully downloaded but with name "download.cgi"
After he changed the cgi extension to exe our file installed with no
problem.

Question: is this bug with opera fixed yet? It's important to us that downloads work right with Opera.

As you stated "this bug with opera" you would have to check with Opera to see if it is fixed. More than likely it is a setting the browser has that determines how file types are handled. As far as I know no change has been made to ShopSite to handle anything differently.

You could get a 9.0 demo store at shopsite.com/demo.html and see if it works in that version.
