Display-Formatting: Firefox=okay IE=not

Postby dhsprod » Wed Feb 06, 2008 12:11 pm

Hi. I just inherited this responsibility and haven't touched HTML since Frontpage when it first came out years ago.

The homepage of my site http://www.dhsproducts.com looks fine in both programs, but the product pages only work Firefox, but not in IE.
I've already searched the forums and have run the pages through validator (at least 44 errors on each).

The site worked fine in both FF and IE when I started. To my knowledge, I have only updated product info and product/page content in the Text1 and Text2 areas. I have not messed with the custom templates.

So with so many errors. Any suggestions on where to start?

What I would start with is taking out the SCRIPT tag in the beginning of the Text 1 field (I've just looked at the source code for the File Displays page). If you take this out the contents on the page should be displayed (for the most part) correctly in IE.

take out:
<script type="text/javascript">

oops. That was part of a javascript pop-up window that is now disabled (obviously because I deleted it). I'll figure out another way to do that.

Edited:
The original code was:

<script type="text/javascript">
<span style="color: rgb(153, 0, 0);"></span><a
href="javascript:poptastic('/gritchart.html');"><b>Click here for a
Grit Chart</b></a>
<br>

Is there a way to still keep that script and have it work properly? Do I need to put something in front of the java script?

You would need to put something after the JavaScript. the JavaScript should start with <SCRIPT> and end with </SCRIPT>
