Generally it is easiest to just have 2 ShopSite stores one for retail and a separate one for wholesale.

Using Different Store

Postby priscila » Fri Jan 11, 2008 10:10 pm

I am using 1 store for Retail Customer. For that I had to setup/install ShopSite in my FTP. And for entering ShopSite Back Office for it I have to enter username & password. If I use 1 more store for Wholesale Customer how will I configure it? Sholuld I install it 1 more time for another store & give another username & password?
Is it possible that, I use same username & password for 2 store, but both have different information (i.e. one for Retail & another Wholesale)?

Each store will need to have its own username but the password could be the same (but I would make them different). You will need to obtain a second ShopSite authorization file for the second store and it will need to contain a different username and domain name from the retail store. You might be able to use the same username if the stores are not sharing the same cgi-bin location but I would recommend having them different so you know which store you are logged in to.

How can I obtain a second ShopSite authorization file for my second store? Should I buy a new store from ShopSite and install it in my FTP ?

If you bought your first store directly from ShopSite then yes you would buy the second one the same way. If you purchased it from a ShopSite partner then you would purchase the second one from them also. Be sure to mention that it will be a second store selling the same products as the first only to wholesale customers and you might qualify for a "mirror" license at a reduced price.

I am looking at this issue as well.

Could I set up my wholesale customers into a group, assign a discount coupon to the group, and they would get wholesale prices? Since I have to manually move customers into the group, I would have control over who gets the discount.

Alternatively, Could I simply duplicate my pages and add a sign in with php code to protect the wholesale only pages, then populate them with a duplicate product line that has wholesale prices?

Shopsite has developed a tool that will allow you to automatically keep a "master" store (e.g. a retail store) and one or more "slave" stores (e.g. dealer store) in sync. Pricing and many other fields can be defined to be different in the dealer store than in the main store.

I have my retail SS implementation in a first store, and the second SS implementation - the dealer store, which is kept current with the sync tool - in a different, password protected directory.

My company covered the development cost for this tool. Ask Shopsite if the "sister store synchronization utility" may be the right option for you.
