shopsite / google checkout shipping error

Post by partman »

I have recently been updated to shopsite 8.3 from 8.0 and i am trying to intergrate google check out, everything is correct as far as google and shopsite links are concerned but in my shopping cart when you choose google checkout an error at the top of the page appears and reads this:

Detailed error message from Google: Error parsing XML; message from parser is: Element type "flat-rate-shipping" must be followed by either attribute specifications, ">" or "/>".

I am using the "flat rate shipping" option in shopsite and I can see in the page code where i think the problem inlays but with shopsite i have no access to the code.

has anyone ever had this problem? please let me know thanks.

Check the text in your shipping options, as sometimes characters such as an ampersand "&" can be problematic for Google Checkout. You may want to upgrade to the latest 9.0.2 version if possible as well.

Did you upgrade to 8.3 or 8.3.1? There were a number of Google Checkout issues fixed in the 8.3.1 version. (Click on the green ShopSite tab and look in the footer between the two logos to see the exact version you have.) See this kbase article for details.

i changed the text and took out those characters and now i get this error message.

Google Checkout error. Please use "Continue Checkout" button instead of "Google Checkout".

Detailed error message from Google: Error parsing XML; message from parser is: Invalid value for attribute name in checkout-shopping-cart/check 91 out-flow-support/merchant-checkout-flow-support/shipping-methods/flat-rate-shipping: Must be at most 255 characters

I checked the wording and i have 210 words and 1125 charaectors with spaces. do you think it means cutting them down?

First just try reducing the number of characters in each option so that each one is less than 255 characters (including spaces).

Yes. The zip code zones that you have configured to be charged tax and their related tax rates are also sent to Google Checkout, so when the shopper enters their zip code in Google Checkout they should automatically receive the correct tax charge, just like they would if they used the regular checkout instead of Google Checkout.

ok heres a question, We did a test sale on the "live" server, we created a new accout, and google sent an email to the receiver, and to our shopsite contact email to let us know about the sale, however shopsite orders has not yet received the order. any reasons?

I copy and pasted the api call back url into google and left it on xml, should i change it to html?

I also checked in my google checkout setting and it tells me the receivers account is under review becuase i guess he just opened the google account?

Let me know your thoughts..=)

How long ago was the test order completed on Google's side?

The order won't show up in ShopSite until it's state has changed to 'CHARGEABLE' in Google Checkout. This used to happen almost immediately for most orders, but Google recently implemented a 15 minute delay so that the shopper could cancel the order from their Google Checkout account within this time period without the merchants having to do a chargeback.

You should leave the callback set to the default of XML, this is the proper selection for how ShopSite communicates with Google Checkout.

Loren,
Since we last talked friday everything has worked very smooth, we have successfully processed 4 google checkout orders and it seems to take alittle while to send the invoice back to shopsite but it does work.

Thank you again for your help.
