Can I Combine Discount with Associate Program?

One of my salesmen wants to offer a group a 15% commission PLUS a 10% discount on orders. Can this be done automatically?

I can set the group up as an associate and give them their 15%.

I know I can set up a group and assign a coupon for the 10% off, but it appears that I will need to manually assign customers to the group.

Is there a way to have a member register into a group automatically?

You can make a new group, assign a coupon to it, and make it the default group so that new customers are automatically assigned to that group. You can't have the group they are assigned to automatically determined by the associate they came through, though. There can only be one group specified as the default, so all newly registered customers will be assigned to that same default group until you manually move them elsewhere.
