Back Link not working in More Information Page?

Postby shaoen01 » Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:26 pm

Hi,

I find that the "[Return to Previous Page]" link on my more information page does not work. Anyone knows why? Thanks

Is it javascript code? Do you have javascript enabled in your browser?

Hi Jim,

Yes, i believe that Javascript is enabled in my browser. But just in case, could you give me some instructions on how to check just to make sure. Thanks

That would depend on what browser you are using, they each have their own way of enabling javascript. What is a link to a page where the problem exists?

Hi,

The previous back link do not work if i use it in Firefox, but it works on IE. However, if i access the more informartion page directly without going through the main store page, it will not work as well. Otherwise, if i access the more information page via the product display page it will work. Here is the link: http://x-men-paradise.just-marvel-x-men ... ume-1.html

Thanks!

Works for me in Firefox (if I come to the more info page via the store page).

Why would it? The 'Return to Previous Page' link is using the JavaScript history function to go back one page in the browser history. If you access the page directly without coming from some other page, then there is nothing in that history to go back to. Here is what the actual code for the link looks like in the page source:

Code: Select all
<a href="#" onclick="history.go(-1)">

I note that your templates are customized templates, not ShopSite default templates, so if you want this link to use something other than this JavaScript function (i.e. something like a hard link back to the page the product is assigned to or back to your home page), then you should talk to the designer that made your custom templates to see if that is possible.

Hi Loren,

The previous link works in Firefox? I tried on mine quite a few times and it does seem to work. Any settings i should look out for? Is there anyway i can just edit the custom template myself? Any particular field i should look out for? Thanks
