Custom Templates Basic Help

Postby tonihazlewood » Fri Dec 14, 2007 3:06 am

Please excuse me asking a really dumb question, but I am new to Shopsite and Custom templates but do have knowledge of html & ftp. I am attempting to copy an existing page template, download it, amend in html to change page width & colour schemes, then simply upload and use on my site. I can easily copy the awesome template in blue and rename and existing template but cannot locate the file, nor any .sst files within shopsite to download. Is the someting I am missing, what is the simplest way of changing the layout of a page.

Note that you should not modify any templates in the sc/templates directory because they will be overwritten if the store is ever upgraded to a new version. The merchant's custom templates are kept in the store's data directory in a subdirectory templates that matches the layout of those in the sc directory. These files are not overwritten during an upgrade.

When checking for templates ShopSite will first look in the merchant's area and then in the ShopSite template area. If there are templates with the same name in both locations the one in the merchant area will be used.
