UPS Commercial vs Residential

Postby coffeeman » Mon Oct 08, 2007 8:52 am

The majorit of our orders are residential but 20% to 30% are commercial. When the commercial customers order, they see a UPS charge higher than the actual. Since shipping cost is an impediment to ordering, how can we show commercial customers their lower actual rate when Shopsite forces you to designate everything either residential or commercial?

I'm trying to do the same thing with Fed-Ex. I was disappointed to seen no one answered your post. We use Lexiconn, and they have been very helpful, but this is a problem that Shopsite has decided not to address. If anyone knows how to do this, please let us know!

There is only one way that Fed-Ex can be configured, either for Residential or for Business. It is currently not possible to allow the shopper to select whether they are a commercial address customer or a residential address. Given the choice most people would pick the cheapest method so you would end up paying any up charge over what the shopper paid for if they selected commercial instead of residential.

You could put some text on the shopping cart screen saying rates are for residential delivery and any over charge will be refunded to commercial customers.

Thanks. The problem is that FedEx says home delivery, so people at business addresses think they can't use this. I've found no way to change this text. The page is getting busy with all these directions. I hate showing FedEx home delivery I need it to say FedEx Ground, no one seems to be able to help change the wording.

The text for the shipping options is displayed exactly as it comes from FedEx and can't be changed.

FedEx said that they could communicate directly with Lexiconn to fix the problem but Lexiconn said they have no access to the code, and that Shopsite would be unwilling to change the wording for one customer, all I want it to say is FedEx Ground instead of FedEx Home Delivery. Fed Ex said it is very possible to change this with 5 minutes of Shopsites help but Lexiconn and I haven't been able to get Shopsite to communicate with FedEx. I love Lexiconn, but Shopsite is not able to help with this. Any suggestions?

Lexiconn rocks. If support is important to any of you, switch to Lexiconn! I guess they monitor this list and found a round about fix that solved our problem. PS. I do not work for them our site is http://www.actechbooks.com
