Repost - Displaying Cart Total in Alternate Currency?

Sorry to repost, but we are close to launching our site and need to figure ou t away to do this....


I need to show this on the check out page. We have all our prices in Euros, but we need to display the price equivalent in US$ when the total amount is calculated in case the user is from the USA.

I don't see a tag for this. I sure hope there is some way to do this. I'm not sure how useful the Alternate currency is if all it does is display next to a product and you can't use it anywhere else in the system.

There is no built-in functionality to display the cart totals in a different currency. You could probably use Javascript to display an alt. currency by using the Javascript variables in the cart. Reference:

That's a great idea Rob. Thanks. I'll shoot for that option.

Doesn't it seem like the alternate currency ought to be useful in more places than just the on the products page? Maybe I am missing it elsewhere. Besides having it on the carts screens, I wish it was usable for determining shipping options, on email confirmations, etc.
