Custom Template Problem

Postby priscila » Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:49 pm

I am using custom template for my pages. But the problem is, if I edit my template for any reason then it doesn't change my pages automatically. I have to assign that template again for those pages & publish. As a result, I lost other code (i.e. php code ) which I have added for those pages. What is the solution?

I'm no expert, but in my experience it looks like it doesn't automatically detect when your templates have changed, and thus doesn't give you the little "Publish" button. And if it does, it of course won't necessarily rebuild ALL the pages that use a particular template, it'll just rebuild anything that it THINKS has changed. I believe you can get it to rebuild the site completely (without re-assigning all your pages to templates) by going to "Utilities", then "Publish", then "Regenerate".

However, if you've lost other code, that sounds like something else might be out of synch, although I'm not sure how that would work exactly, unless you had manually circumvented ShopSite to put in some other PHP code, or lost something during the Template editing process.
