The search engine seems to have problems with plural and singular words and word with capitals and lower case beginnings. It could be smarter.

SS 9.0 which was just announced yesterday is supposed to have a smarter search utility.
We use Lexiconn's optional search keyword module to determine what people are looking for and fine tune keywords accordingly. We enter keywords as plurals and select "stems" as a search option. After about 6 months of fine tuning, our search is working fairly well for our limited product assortment. But you are correct about the shortcomings.
SS 9.0 (pro?) is also supposed to have a search analysis tool built in.
