Special UPS Pricing and Forced Zip codes

Postby werthy » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:22 am

This is my first post to the forums. I recently purchased the Shopsite Pro license and have hosting through Lexiconn. Lexiconn recommended a shopsite web designer help me integrate my old site into a new one adding shopsite. The site is up and running but we have run into few problems. First off i do a lot of international business so i have customers ordering from all over the world. On small orders i use UPS as my service and since i have done good business with them for years they offer me 66% off the general published rates that UPS normally charges. I pass those savings onto my customers so i can compete better in my market. Where can i add my UPS discount rate in shopsite so it is reflected when the customer checks out. At this time for example a customer in UK would pay $230.00 expedited for one of my products but the real rate cost of that same item is only $79.00. I want to pass this UPS discount onto my customers.
Next problem i have is the forced the zip code. Many countries dont have zip codes or postal codes. I saw one work around on this forum where someone said to put 00000 in the box to bypass the zip. And just make a note to your customers where the zip code box is to enter 00000 if they dont have a zip code. Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Thanks
werthy

When you configured UPS in ShopSite did you enter your account information? If not, go to Commerce Setup -> Shipping -> Configure UPS. From the configure screen you could select the "Re-register UPS" button and then enter your UPS account number. ShopSite passes the account info when it requests rate quotes so UPS could then send back the rates specific for your account.
