Wish List, Customers create product page for future order

Post by marcea »

I read an article recently talking about what customers require for a successful shopping experience, and having a page where they can post their "wish list" items is there.

A Wish List page where customers could post the images and maybe item title/price, Order button, and link to More-Info page would be nice. In my mind, I picture a customized customer web page with products on it!

I have no idea how you do it, with or without cookies, registered customer or not, list expiration, and Email-A-Friend link (for entire wish-list at once), but give us some format options too!

This could work for Birthday/Bridal Registry also?

Is there a way to make items that we currently have on the site but are out of be marked to notify the customer when they are in stock?

Or maybe a way for a customer to preorder an item? (Maybe this needs to be in the user forum)

I'm writing to ask you to consider having a wish list similar to the one Amazon uses. As a regular shopper at Amazon, I use it all the time. I see something that interests me, and put it on the wish list. This way I don't have to decide on the spot to make the purchase. Maybe I just want to think about it, check out options. Maybe it is something expensive, so I keep it at hand in case I change my mind.
Amazon makes it easy - you click one button to put an item in the shopping cart, and another to put it on the wish list. Once in the wish list, they make it easy to move it to the shopping cart.

I also have a site abandonment module where for the first time I can see the number of people who put together a cart, then don't follow thru on the purchase. According to the figures, I am experiencing a 65% abandonment rate. I seriously think that the rate would be reduced if people had a wish list so they could choose items, but not have to make a purchase.

That's my two cents. Thanks for the consideration..

Wish Lists are now supported in service pack 1 (sp1) for ShopSite 10. This is via a 3rd party wish list service provided by Wishpot.com
