Re: View Cart and Addto cart buttons

Postby Paul Perris » Fri Apr 19, 2002 12:29 pm

1) Each time I add a new product (15 - 20 a week or more) I have to edit
the products to get the "Add to Cart" and "View Cart" buttons to work.
Without further editing, just the text [ Add to Cart ] and [ View Cart ]
appears regardless of my selection when adding the product.

In regard to the post by Kevin Bell we too have the same problem as above,
if we add multiple products the default
cart buttons appear even if the global settings are correct:

Note that for problem #1, you can set the default Add to Cart and View Cart
buttons for new products in Preferences -> Store Text -> Store Pages.

This seems happen for use when adding multiple products but not if you are
adding just one product.

That's the problem exactly - because of the nature of my business, I rarely
if ever add one product at a time. Multiple additions always revert to text
cart buttons regardless of the global settings, or settings made during the
product listing.

If you use Stone Edge Product Manager (www.stoneedge.com) you won't have
this problem. All uploads have the correct buttons.

I know this sounds silly, but when I pay good money for an advanced program
like ShopSite Pro, I would prefer *not* having to buy another relatively
expensive program in order to get all the functions promised!

Kevin,

I've been looking for the affordable perfect ecommerce system for years. I found it. It's not so much ShopSite as StoneEdge Order Manager and Product Manager. If you're doing any kind of business, it's these two supplementary software programs that will be the real heart of your operation. They have become an indispensable and integral part of my operation. I would encourage you to check them out...they are so reasonably priced for what they do...and they do a lot more than you can even imagine.

Hi Paul,

You might want to consider custom templates. This way you can hard wire the
button images in the template, as well as the layout of the product etc. And
you can use different layouts for different types of products if you like...

If you don't want to do that, you can set a default button in the
Preferences - Store Text area. Just put the html for the image in the text
area, i.e. <img src="blah.gif" alt="blah, blah, blah">. Then each new item
should use that button.

Good luck,

Kat

RE: Testing Shopping Cart

Postby PCLearningMall.com » Mon May 13, 2002 11:57 am

In a previously posted question regarding testing your features that
requires inputting orders with credit card numbers, Loren responded with a
solution that will work by putting the credit card process on manual while
testing.

This brings up one last question. I am using Verisigns automatic credit
card process system that is currently configured within ShopSite. If I set
this to manual while doing the test, when I go back to the Verisign process
gateway will all the setting still be correct.

Or, stated differently when if I switch back to automatic will I have to
reestablish a connection, or reset up Verisign?

You will NOT have to set it up again, the settings are saved in a file (with
the password encrypted, of course). So all you will need to do is select the
VeriSign radio button and it will resume working the way it was previous to
switching to Manual mode.

Re: Checkout Issues

Postby Paul Perris » Mon Jun 10, 2002 9:44 am

Hello,

We have just been upgraded to 6.0.1.3 and I am getting a lot of customers
having problems checking out on our store enough to make me worry there
could be a problem.

I have had five complaints in the last week alone - When I checkout at our
premises and friend of our business do not have any issues but some customer
do.

What would cause checkout issues - could it be older browser versions not
compatable with this new release?

Cheers,

Paul

You would have to be specific about the complaints, like what error messages and
problems are being reported.. I do not know of any current issues with older
browsers.

I also have had too many complaints...but it always seems to be
customer issues. Many times it's the billing address not matching the
credit card address and it gets an error message rather than a
declined message. In the ShopSite backend, I just this weekend
entered verbiage in all the error messages that the customer receives
addressing the matching address issue. I hope this helps my
complaints. I also think that sometimes Authorize.net goes down so
the customer gets an error message....but that's only a feeling.

This is the exact message the customer gets:

The error message says

Paul,

Did you ever get a resolution to this via your hosting provider? I had emailed
them asking additional questions and never heard back.

RE: ShopSite CCV2 validation box in the checkout form

Postby Chris Gilbert » Sat Aug 24, 2002 8:30 pm

Lauren and gang,

You guys should jump on the bandwagon and like most other commerce
systems/sites have that gratuitous fake image of a credit card
displaying what and where the CCV2 numbers are. That way when a
shopsite store owner needs to use this feature, they don't lose sales
because people don't have a clue what that value is for in the credit
card info part of the checkout form.

Just a thought!

Kind Regards, Chris Gilbert

On our site there is a text link called "CVV2 Help" that links to pictures
of the numbers on cards... although I don't like it being hosted on
ShopSite's server...
