UPS not calculating shipping charges in Canada

Postby Swine » Wed Jul 18, 2007 7:58 am

We are a US company that sells products and magazine subscriptions in US and Canada. We use UPS for Canadian orders, but when a Canadian order comes through, the only shipping & handling charge that appears is the extra $1.80 we've added to all shipping. So, regardless of how much anyone from Canada orders, the shipping cost is only $1.80. No idea what's going on here. Any help would be appreciated.

So, nobody has any experience with this problem? Canadian shipping charges not being tallied when orders are created? Anyone?

When I enter K1Z 8R7 as a Canadian zip I get the following rates

UPS Standard: $12.54</option>
UPS Worldwide Expedited (SM): $58.28
UPS Worldwide Saver (SM): $64.70
UPS Worldwide Express (SM): $66.40
UPS Worldwide Express Plus (SM): $111.80

So I am getting rates from the US to Canada.

What version of ShopSite are you using? UPS made changes to some of their international shipping options early this year and these were incorporated in ShopSite 8.3.

Using ShopeSite 8.1.3. Maybe this is the problem. Thanks!

Maybe the ShopSite version isn't the problem.

Doing a bit more digging, I've discovered what's happening. When a customer selects Canada in the country pulldown, they are offered three options for shipping. The first one is says: "Shipping calculation not available. Please call for shipping. $1.80"

The other two options are legitimate UPS shipping choices.

Being a total newbie, I'm not sure how I can eliminate this first "not available" option from the pulldown choices. Because it does allow the purchaser to choose this option, and check out with only $1.80 in shipping charges.

Any help is much appreciated.

What shipping options do you have enabled?

This doesn't sound like a UPS error message (unless it has to do with a UPS Service that is no longer available since their re-alignment of service names/types earlier in the year).

I believe the "bad" option is a USPS, which should not be available with Canadian orders. Somehow it's carrying over from our US shipping options, and includes the $1.80 handling charge. I don't know how to disable this option for Canadian orders.

No custom shipping Add-On?

What version of Shopsite? Pro, Manager?

Under "Configure UPS"--what services are selected?

I'm pretty sure this message is coming from the USPS2.cgi custom add-on.

Is this the Lexiconn USPS real-time rate module?

Yep. Lexiconn.

But this whole thing was put in place by a third party. I was able to contact her but she couldn't figure out exactly what was going on. And she's on maternity leave anyhow.

In other words, I'm a rudderless boat on these here waters...

Thanks for your replies, Chris.

Under Commerce Setup--Shipping--Configure Add-on...

What do you have under Additional Parameter 2?

This should be a string of Ys Ns and values separated by pipes |

This defines the service methods and other parameters in use for the add-on.
