Hi, before I go bug my shopping cart host (bizland.com) is there a script or something that when an item quantity hits zero the "order" button would change to "sold" ?

No, there is not. You could work this into a custom product template, but because the pages are static, the button would only 'switch' to the 'sold' button the next time you Publish that page after the Quantity on Hand hits 0.
