Publish Button Doesn't Come Up

Hello,

Altering a custom page template does not bring up the "Publish" button. I have been making changes to my custom page template and then re-saving any product just to bring up the Publish button and test my site. Why doesn't the option to publish come up after every saved change to any template, include, or product. Maybe I'm missing something but it's an extra step and a bit annoying.

This is the intentional behavior. You may be making changes to a template that you don't want to use at the current time. (getting a Christmas theme template ready in July for example) The template you are changing may also be for a small number of products or pages and there may be no need to publish the entire store to see the change.

You can force a publish of your store pages by going to Utilities > Publish > Regenerate. Or as you mentioned, just save a page or product that uses the template and the Publish tab will display.
