Fields that collect customer information during check-out pr

Hello all,

Currently there is one phone field among the customer invoice address fields
and one among the shipping fields (if the merchant displays them).

Now: The online shops here in Germany are normally using TWO phone fields.
First they collect the landline phone number (this information is used
during the credit rating check) and secondly they collect the mobile phone
number (this information is normally used in order to contact the customer
if there are any issues concerning the order or given to the parcel service
with the package so that the parcel service can contact the customer).

We do collect currently only one phone number (due to the restrictions given
by shopsite and my lack of ability to implement a second phone field
myself). The customers give us normally their mobile phone number which
cannot be traced. In Europe is it unusual to have the mobile phone number
listed in phone books or online directories. If a land-line is given we can
trace it in the phone-books and see if the address given matches the phone
number (or a company where the customer is likely employed).

It would make life (and credit rating) about 100% easier, if we could
collect both phone numbers during the order process. One customizable field
added behind the phone number field for the invoice address in the back
office would do the trick here. For us it would be the second phone number,
for other online shops it might be a field to collect the fax number or
other data.

I know that there are extra fields that can be used during the checkout
process, but these field are not saved in the customer profile saved orders
/ invoice address.

Anybody else here having the same need for an additional field in the
customer address that saves into the customer profile?

Best regards,

Niko
