another question about Order API

Is it possible to have the store do an Authorize and AVS check through the
gateway, and only if the Authorize succeeds, send the order information
through the Order API, INCLUDING the authorization and AVS status?

Yes, an order in ShopSite will only be created if the CC is approved (by
whatever guidelines you setup for avs, etc.). It will only process the
order API for an approved order.

The thing I'm unsure about is how to send the authorize status and the AVS
return code such as YYY, etc.

I didn't see an obvious way to do that in the API.

If you use ShopSite to do the gateway authorization (using Authorize.net,
Verisign, CardService, etc...), then you can pass the status from the
gateway in your order API script using the variable "F-OrderInfo", which
contains the response from the payment gateway.

status to Shopsite telling it that an order has shipped and to capture the

There is no method of programatically updating an order status within
ShopSite. There is an option when the orders are viewed in the ShopSite
backoffice to "Bill" an order if the payment was authorized through a
payment gateway, but there is no outside interface to do it. That is
the way most small to medium size merchants would do it. Typically,
larger merchants download their orders and manage them outside of
ShopSite. In ShopSite version 7.0 there is the capability of
downloading orders in an XML format, either from the backoffice or using
a separate merchant supplied application. A utility such as Stone's
Ordermanager or Quickbooks can also be used to manage the orders outside
of ShopSite. I believe most merchants who handle the orders outside of
ShopSite use the interface provided by the payment gateway to finalize
orders that were Authorized through ShopSite when the shopper placed the
order.
