If I assign customers to groups what does that do for me?

When they login can they see a different shopping cart, order form, template
etc?

Just curious can't find much on it yet.

You can assign different coupons to different groups so when a shopper
signs in the coupons would be automatically applied to their order. You
could use this to give a special discount when the shopper registers as
encouragement to sign up so you could build an email list. You could
have different groups for a wholesale scheme and assign coupons with
different discounts to each group of customers.
