"Recalculate"

Just wondering.... (I've been playing around with a SS7 test store to
prepare for our own upgrade)....why can't the cart recalculate
automatically when a Zip Code or country is changed on the first page of
the cart, rather than providing that annoying message "Zip Code has
changed, please press recalculate" to customers?

I believe it is so that shopper can realize that their shipping costs might
have just changed. Forcing the shopper to press Recalculate at least lets
them know that their total might have changed.

Our radial button list of shipping options shows their costs. I believe
shoppers are smart enough to know that if they select another shipping
option, that their costs will change. The current requirement to click
[recalculate] after changing something (quantity, shipping) is a step that
is sometimes missed by the shopper and therefore requires followup by us
with the shopper, when we recognize an incorrect shipping method (foreign
ship to address vs. US shipping method).

At least ShopSite should give us the option of having the costs change
automatically or requiring/expecting the shopper to click [recalculate].
