Stray unassigned sub-products showing up in sub-product list

I am getting what I can only describe as stray sub-products displaying. What
I mean by "stray" is products that I have not assigned to the main product
and are totally unrelated, suddenly appear in the sub-product list. They
usually go away if I re-publish the product, but not always. If I go into
arrange sub-products in the back office, the stray sub-product is not listed
even though it appears when the product displays. For what it's worth, the
sub-products are always listed in the more information page. I'm also using
a custom template.
Anyone have any ideas how to approach this?

Thanks

Vince,

I'm using sub-products extensively - basically, I'm skipping the
"Catagory=Page" and using a "Catagory=Product(master)MoreInfo Page"
approach. The MoreInfo page for each master product displays a listing of
sub-products with links to their respective sub-products' MoreInfo pages.
I haven't seen any 'stray subs' yet, but my product count is only about
100 so far.

You may want to download your database and take a look at the format and
data in the sub-product field (I think it's the last column.) You may
find that you have some product name conflicts. It may be that the
subproduct loop in the parser that builds the page is not working the same
as the database subproduct read done from the administration interface.

You're templates should be placing a <head> statement on all pages - if
for some reason you have altered the include that composes the document
<head>, the parser will freak out on the first instance of ' head ' and
start reading from another location. (The parser is set to trigger on the
first instance of head and insert the Meta-Generator data.)

Thanks David,
I'll look to see if the <head> statement was removed.
Much appreciated.
