Is there a way to have a specific shipping method automatically selected as
the shipping method. Customer have to select a method of shipping to
continue the checkout process. In my case I offer free shipping and it
would be helpful if the customer didn't have to select our primary shipping
method. Viewing all the shipping choices is also necessary

Yes, this would be a great feature. It can be an option so people can decide
which way they like in on their site.
