Product DB Upload Question

Do I need to upload the entire products database each time I want to add
products. If I just uplaod a new product line will the upload add the new
records to the existing products database, or will it replace it. I'm under
the impression that it will replace it, virtually destroying my website.

You do not need to include existing products in your upload if you are
just adding new products. Just include the new products. The upload of
new products will go faster if you choose 'none' for the unique
identifier when you upload, since then it will not try to match the
products being uploaded with ones that are already in the database.

When you do a product upload, you can choose to either "Add new products" or
"Ignore products that do not already exist". So, you can upload one new
product if you want, or replace an existing product, or group of products.
You do not need to upload your entire database each time.

Just make a backup before you do an upload each time just in case something
goes wrong:
Utilities -> Database -> Manage

Oh, and if you are worried about any upload causing problems, go to
Utilities -> Database -> Manage and use the Backup function which will
make copies of your databases in the data directory, and if you don't
like what happens due to your upload (or any other change to Pages or
Products that you might make), then you can go back here and use the
Restore function to restore your Pages and Products to the backed up state.

I believe the "Add new products" selection is selected by default.
