Anyone else find this feature useful?

I just submitted the following as a feature request:

Now that SS7 includes customer registration, a very useful feature would be
the ability to have multiple price levels per product - i.e. a "retail"
price, and a "dealer" price. Price levels could be assigned to customer
accounts.

As a retailer who handles more than 1000 products with different dealer
price structures( thus, I cannot use coupons with fixed % off or fixed $$
off to solve my problem), and with 30+ dealer pricing accounts and rising, I
need both my retail customers AND my dealer customers to be able to order
online and have their pricing correct when ordered.

Does anyone else see a need for this?

How many different pricing discount categories do you have, i.e. if you
don't give a flat percent off on every item, how many different
percentage categories do you have? If you don't have a different
percentage discount for every single item, then you should not have to
create a coupon for every item in your store, just for the different
discount rates that you use for dealer prices, and assign those products
to those rate coupons.

How many different pricing levels do you have for different dealers?
If you only have one pricing level for all your dealers, then the
easiest way to do this would be to have an additional site or
subdirectory on your site where you can either have a separate ShopSite
with the same products but setup with dealer pricing, or use the same
ShopSite and duplicate your products with dealer pricing (if that gets
confusing, add some kind of prefix or suffix to the product names and/or
SKU's to differentiate). If you are using ShopSite-generated pages for
your store pages, ShopSite can Publish to a subdirectory of your output
directory if you add that subdirectory name to the page filenames. You
can password-protect that subdirectory either with a username and
password for each dealer, or with a generic dealer username/password.
