Customer Registration Questions/Concerns!

Hello!
I just had 7.0 installed and I am excited to have it! A few
questions/concerns about the customer registration.
1. Since our first shopping cart page is not on a secure server (https),
and the customer registration (CR) screen is, when somebody clicks to go
back to the shopping cart they get the "You are being re-directed to a
non-secure site" message from the browser, which probably isn't
comforting to new users! This also happens once people "Sign In" and are
re-directed back to the cart. Can I fix this?
2. Why does the CR not save their billing address if they choose a
non-credit card payment type? It seems pointless to just save their
shipping address, since most people have an identical billing/shipping
address, so they are still having to type an address each time they make
an order. Otherwise, it should not even ask for a billing address for
non-credit card payments... or give that option in the backoffice. I
found this when testing the system and trying to place my first test
order using a generic check or money order by mail payment option. I
went back and found that I had to fill in the billing address again.
Maybe I'm confused about this?
3. It would be great to be able to link directly to the CR screen,
without having to go through the shopping cart. In fact, I think this is
the only site in the world I have seen that works like this... and I
have ordered from at least 100 sites in my life. "Click here to see/edit
your customer registration info. First click here to view the shopping
cart, then click the link to your account."
4. The first time somebody registers, then clicks to view previous
orders or view their addresses, it just shows an empty box and asks them
to choose one to edit/view. It's kind of confusing when it is blank and
there are none to edit/view. Maybe instead of saying "Choose One", it
should say "There are no orders available to view yet."
5. When somebody who has ordered before with a credit card signs in and
chooses to place a new order using their saved credit card number, it
shows something like this as a payment option:
"Select Payment Type:
Visa - 4152"
Not everybody has memorized the last four digits of their card, so it
may need to explain what this means. Maybe say:
"Select Payment Type:
Visa - - - - 4152 - Ryan R DeLuca"
Seems to me that would be a lot more obvious. Remember, at least 25% of
Internet users are not all that smart about these types of things, as we
all probably know from some of the crazy e-mail questions we constantly
get.
6. This isn't a problem, but maybe a feature request. It would be great
to link from the shopping cart or from the "View Previous Orders" screen
to the individual product pages. Next to each cart line item it could
have a little link button to view the product page. Why should they have
to search for this page again once they put it in their shopping cart?
For people that don't use the Pages part of Shopsite (like when using
Order Anywhere buttons) you could just have a "Product URL" field that
it could use.
This way if somebody orders something, then 6 months later wants to see
what they ordered before (by viewing their previous orders) they could
just click the product name (or next to it) to order it again quickly.
I'm just trying to avoid customer confusion.
With these issues taken care of, this can really help Shopsite stores
kick their competitor's butts! Until then, I can't see how we can turn
this feature on, even though I was extremely excited to use it.
Thanks!
