SS 7 Registration and CC Numbers

Hi,

Just wondering.....is there a way in SS 7 for the merchant to control
whether or not customers can store credit card data or just
billing/shipping information (for security reasons) or does the decision
lie solely with the customer once Registration is turned on?

It is the decision of the customer. Credit card info is always
encrypted and even the customer will never see the complete number
again, they will just see the last 4 numbers. The CVV2 value will never
be kept.

Jim is correct that there is not a backoffice setting for this that a
merchant can use, but because the customer registration is using a
template, the template can be modified to not display the option to the
shopper when they sign up, and instead just make the associated HTML
form fields (which still have to exist) hardcoded in your template as
hidden fields with the default choice you want as its value. This would
probably have to be done in multiple places in the template, the area
for the sign-up screen, and the Edits screen where a returning custom
can edit/view their account characteristics.

But, the full credit card number is available via the Order screens.

Yes, in the order itself, but not in what is stored in the customer
registration data. The merchant can view the order and get the card info
that is necessary to process the payment, and then delete the order out
of ShopSite which does not affect any information in the customer
registration record.
