Viewing Credit Card Info

Hi,

In the latest release of ShopSite 6.3, only the last 4 digits of a
customer's credit card info is now viewable. I understand that this is a
security enhancement. But, in the past, I have always relied on having the
info "on file" to process adjustments approved by a given customer via
email. Now, I have to call the customer to ask for their cc num again.
When I download the orders text file, the cc num column is present but I
think that the numbers are jumbled or encrypted because the last 4 digits
don't match the 4 digits I see in ShopSite. So, is it safe to assume that a
customer's cc info is no longer available anywhere?

Thanks,
Cheryl

Cheryl,
The information in the download file should match the customers number.
If you are using Excel to view the file it may convert the number to
scientific notation rather than leaving it as a number. You should be
able to set the format for the CC number column to text when you import
the file and see it correctly. You can verify this is the case by
opening the file in Wordpad and looking at the CC number but the columns
don't line up nice like in Excel or another spreadsheet program

There was a discussion on this previously and ShopSite was kind enough to
implement an override which enables the number to appear on the order again.
The address to the details is below:

As an aside, unless an error is occurring, the numbers are available in the
text file. I did open a copy of it in Write and was able to find the number
for each order, even though things were not lined up well.
