Topseller or list of topselling items

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Tue Aug 26, 2003 8:58 am

Hi all,

we have been happily busy all summer selling our products online with
shopsite. Now as the season ends and the worms slow users down in accessing
the internet, there is a break.

I do use this time to work on products and layout as usual.

I wonder if it is possible (or will be possible in the future) to access and
dynamically display the current topselling products from a shopsite store
and embedd the information in self made html pages.

I think of something where shopsite keeps track of the products sold and
writes the data in a table, something like:

1. 851 102
2. 2544 99
3. 69 87
4. ....

where the first row is the place in the top seller list, the second row is
the internal shopsite article number and the third row is the number of
items sold.

Then there should be a way to dynamically retrieve the data or pictures from
the shopsite database for the products.

I imagine something like:
http://www.yourshop.com/cgi-bin/shopsit ... i?pos1&img

that can be put into an image tag in a webpage and pulls the image
information from shopsite product database (URL of the picture) and displays
the product graphic of the product at position one in the topseller list.

Or http://www.yourshop.com/cgi-bin/shopsit ... ?pos3&name would
return the name of product on pos 3 of the topseller list.

I hope you understand the scenario. This way we would be able to create our
own, self updating top selling list or topseller links.

Even cooler would be to have different top seller statistics for different
product categories, so that different list could be generated. (But I would
be happy to have one to start with ;-) ).

Thank you for your attention and any comments on this.

Regards,

Niko

P.S.: I have a topseller box on our start page at this moment, but I am
updating it manually from time to time.
