Shopsite 6.3 - Show Field On Shopping Cart If Over $75?

Hello!

We just upgraded to 6.3 and are very excited. Thanks Loren!

Quick question: Is there a way to show a custom check out field ONLY if
the shopping cart subtotal is over $75? Basically, we give out a free
gift to all orders over $75 (before shipping). Right now they have to
tell us which gift they want in the comments section of the order form.
Of course, people forget to do this all the time.

Is there some code I can put into the HTML of the page so this custom
field will only be visible when they have earned the free gift?

It would also be cool if it showed a message if they did NOT have enough
in their basket to get the free gift. ("Order $22.78 more for a free
gift!")

There is no way to do this currently with the Custom Checkout Fields that I
can see. They display the same for every shopper regardless of the contents
or totals of the cart.
