question about associates linking

I'm using Shopsite 6.1. It appears that any time I click "Edit Associate
Info," the associate is given a new URL to link to my site. I suppose that
if I don't make any changes or I click "Cancel," the Associate's URL will
remain the same.

I'm a little confused by all of this, but here's the important question: Is
it only the Associate name that matters? Or, do I need to send the
Associate the new URL that appears every time I make a change to their
information?

Thanks,
Mark

It is only the Associate Name that matters, you will have to send out a new link
if you change the Associate Name. The only other information that is included in
the Associate link that you give the associate is the storeid, this in an
encrypted value that changes every time it is generated (in theory this
increases the security of your storeid), but all versions of the encrypted value
map back to your storeid, so you do not have to give out a new link every time.
