Uploading version 4 data to a version 6.1 ShopSite

Hello all,

Does anyone have any experience with uploading product, page, and/or order
data from an older version into version 6 of ShopSite? I'm encouraging
some folks to migrate to a newer version, but they're concerned about
compatibility issues. I'm wondering if there have been any changes in the
database fields since v. 4 that might create problems if uploading those
databases to v. 6.

Thank you,

Jessi

If you run the upgrade process to get from ShopSite 4.x to ShopSite 6.x
the databases will be automatically converted from the old format to the
new format. The only reason you would need to upload the databases is
if you were moving from one server to another and the servers were using
different CPU archetecture (Intel vs non-intel). If this is the case
you would only be able to upload the pages and products, there is no
functionality to upload orders.

There have been many database changes to add new functionality but
backwards compatibility is always one of the main concerns so any text
files that you may have should be able to be uploaded without problems.

Thanks Jim!

"Should be able to" sounds good. Has anyone actually tried it and seen it
work? Any additional reassurance I can get would be very useful!
