Run-on text in More information text field

Postby Jeremy Bloom » Tue Mar 04, 2003 5:10 pm

My client started using 'More information text' that shows up on the product
page. I created custom templates for them using this field so they could
put 4,000 product descriptions up at their leisure.

We are not able to get a paragraph return without HTML. My client is
somewhat upset, understandably, because I told him long ago that you could
put text wherever you like. It is totally assumed that you can do that at
the very least. This is a suprise to me.

- Isn't ShopSite made for a mom&pop shop?
- Isn't ShopSite made so the store owner doesn't have to know HTML?
- What is SS's intent to happen in the text field?
- I really have to use HTML just to get a paragraph break?

Can anyone shed some light on how or why this happens? I am looking for any
and all input on this topic.

Thanks,
Jeremy

In response to your questions:

- Isn't ShopSite made for a mom&pop shop?
Yes, it is, that is why it has such an easy to use interface. ShopSite is

also designed to grow with your store and support features and functionality
that Web Designers and Developers would want.

- Isn't ShopSite made so the store owner doesn't have to know HTML?
Yes, you do not need to know HTML to produce a Page, Product, or take

orders. However some customiztion such as using Frames, JavaScript
Navagation Bars, etc. do require HTML.

- What is SS's intent to happen in the text field?
You can input text and it will be displayed the way a web browser handles

text. You can also put in HTML to format the text as desired.

- I really have to use HTML just to get a paragraph break?
I'm afraid so. If ShopSite was to interpret extra line feeds and make them

paragraphs it may mess up those that were putting in special HTML codes and
did not want ShopSite to interpret them.
