Hi Norman:
You are addressing our main problem. We have been using OrderAnywhere
and, yes, it is time-consuming. We now have so many products that I cannot
keep up with them all.
I want to pick a ShopSite functionality that will also allow the owner of
the shop
to update the site (add products - text & images) when he has the time.
I have created two templates that I would like to use. Any constructive
feedback would be very much appreciated.

I may need to create more than two.

What I meant to say, perhaps poorly, is my opinion that once you reach a
lot of
products that I feel the OrderAnywhere function is a somewhat time
consuming
method of running a store. We have hundreds of products and use ShopSite
Pro.
As an example if I want to have a sale, I just pick the products for the
sale,
do a group power edit to say 20% off, and the software puts the sale price
and
"on sale" beside of each item. If I want to add 20 products to a page, I
can
pull them up, assign them to a page, and bingo ShopSite does all of the
work.
There is nothing wrong with OrderAnywhere. I was just pointing out
something to consider in the future. Others opinions may differ. I guess
my
final point would be that in the higher version you are paying for a lot
of
automation power in my opinion and I don't believe that using the
OrderAnywhere
function with pages generated outside the program will best help you
achieve
it. However, others may feel differently.

We are using ShopSite 4.1 and the OrderAnywhere functionality on
website pages we create ourselves.
Are you suggesting that we NOT use the higher version of ShopSite?

I also want to mention that while not a dynamic database-driven
store,
ShopSite is a database-driven store. Both types are created from
databases.
The difference is when the page is created. ShopSite creates the
page at
the
time that you publish the page. When a customer requests a page, the
page
is
on the server to display to the customer. Essentially the page is only
created
once but displayed on request. Dynamic software creates the page
whenever
the
customer requests a page. If 1000 customers request a page, the page
is
created 1000 times.
If you are using a higher version of ShopSite and if your client
has a
lot
of products, you are missing out on features that we have found to be
extremely valuable such as Power Editing by forming pages outside of
the
software with OrderAnywhere links. We like to form a database of our
products
using standard database software offline and import it into ShopSite.
Once
imported into the ShopSite database, products can be easily
manipulated
for
sales price changes, out-of-stocks, etc.

My client is currently using ShopSite - We use the OrderAnywhere
links on the back of buttons in our own design.
My client gets a lot of traffic from people typing in the names of
his products into search engines and arriving at his site. So, I
don't want to jeopardize his product pages' ranking in the search
engines.
At the ShopSite website, I read this sentence:
"Store pages with OrderAnywhere links can even be generated
on-the-fly
for
database-driven dynamic stores."
If we decide to create a database-driven store, how will this affect
his ranking in the search engines?
Thanks,
