Problem with custom template

Ok, I'm at my wits end here - it's 0450 on Sunday, and I've spent all
evening trying to figure this out. I'm working on a custom template for
my store, http://www.1sks.com
My *current* problem is that I cannot get the page link graphics to
align="left" no matter what I do. For some reason they default to
align="center", no matter what.
I've studied the Custom Template Specification found at -
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.2/en-US/sc/pro/index.htm?
page=/help/6.2/en-US/install/custom.template.spec.html
and I've looked over the Custom Template Database Fields page found at -
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.2/en-US/sc/pro/index.htm?
page=/help/6.2/en-US/install/custom.template.fields.html
The above make mention of Page Field variables named "LinkText" and
"TextWrap" - however there is no mention of how to implement them
correctly to get them to work! All it says is "Use this tag between the
[--DEFINE LINK_TO_PAGE--] and [--END_DEFINE LINK_TO_PAGE--] tags" - and
I've tried combinations of that endlessly without success.
This is the code I've got thus far - yes, it's the default code copied
from the example custom page template:
# Create the link *to* this page
[--DEFINE LINK_TO_PAGE--]
<a href="[--OUTPUT_DIRECTORY_URL--]/[--Page.FileName--]">[--
PAGE.LinkGraphic--]<b>
[-- IF PAGE.LinkName--]
[--PAGE.LinkName--]
[--ELSE--]
[--PAGE.Name--]
[--END_IF--]
</b></a>
[--END_DEFINE LINK_TO_PAGE--]
Nowhere in there is a "LinkText" variable, yet as seen here:
http://www.1sks.com/store/benchmade.html - the link text is showing up
anyhow.
Does anyone know how I can get the link image aligned correctly? Where
and how do I insert these variables?
Not to the Shopsite programmers - your documentation makes mention of an
advanced custom template example, but I can't see this. It'd make things
a lot easier for people wanting to develop custom templates if you guys
would provide *detailed* examples in your documentation on implementing
tags.
Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.
