UPS Setup Problem

We are using Pro version 6.1.1 and have UPS shipping as our only option for
clients. It has been working great for months, but today we had a client
from the Philippines try to place an order and Philippines did not come up
as an option in the drop down list of countries. We have never made a sale
to the Philippines until now. After checking the country list in the back
office, I find it has a red X next to Philippines as though it were not an
available UPS destination. I did some checking and found UPS provides both
Express and Expedited service to that country. We offer both of those
services to our clients and have them selected in the UPS setup screen. Why
is it marked with an X on the back office country selection list?

Jay,

Try editing the countries.dat file in your ShopSite Data Directory (make a
backup first) and change the entry for Phillipines from:
PHL|608|PH|Philippines|||

to:
PHL|608|PH|Philippines|ups||

Then see if that works to ship to the Phillipines.

In v6.0x and v6.1x the list of countries enabled for UPS is the list of
countries with bi-directional UPS, i.e. countries where UPS also ships from,
which is the same list used when registering for the UPS service as a merchant.
Apparently the Phillipines is a country where UPS ships to, but not from, so it
was not on that list.

In v6.2 this was corrected, and the countries that have non-bi-directional UPS
shipping have a separate designation in the countries.dat file so that you can
select them as countries to ship to. So another solution would be to ask your
host to upgrade your ShopSite from 6.1.1 to 6.2x.
