Title Tag

Hello,

I notice in some documentation I was reading the title tag on your page
should contain the keywords required to move you up the search engine
listings.

We have in the past called the pages the names we can easily edit and find
pages from within shopsite.

Is there anyway to change the title tag and without using having to use them
in the shopsite database?

thanks,

paul

The only way I can think of to accomplish this would be to use custom
templates with the TITLE hardcoded in the template. This way you can name
the pages in the ShopSite backoffice for easy identification, but use the
hardcoded TITLES in the templates to help with your search engine rankings.

I would really like to see ShopSite change the way they display pages in
their backoffice... because we use this our home page displays rather bad.
:)

I wish we had another field to enter a short desc of the page, or it could
even show the page name (i.e. home.php or index.html) as most of us name our
pages intuitively as well.

Any way we could get this little improvement in the next version?

Brandon,

With custom templates you can create your page titles based on any
ShopSite field or combination of fields that you want.

I never even thought of using a different field... duh! We use custom
templates throughout our site. That's a great idea... thanks!

Another tip: use the Remove_HTML flag in tags you use in the title, this way
HTML you may have used in the text fields will not end up in your title. Also,
in v6.2.1 a new tag was added, STORE.Name, which is from the setting in
Preferences -> Store Text -> Store Pages. So interesting titles might look like
this:

<title>[-- PAGE.Name Remove_HTML --] at [-- STORE.Name Remove_HTML --]</title>

or

<title>[-- STORE.Name Remove_HTML --] - [-- PAGE.Name Remove_HTML --]</title>
