assigning product item numbers?

Hello,

We had the following question from a new shopsite mgr. 6.1.1 customer
regarding uploading a database they build of their products.

"Can the Index number shopsite generates be manipulated to be whatever
we want it to be ie: SKU or our database index number."

Before I tell them no I wanted clarification from the experts. It's our
understanding you can customize everything for the most part but
shopsite will always assign it's own item number based on the order it's
input into shopsite's database. Are we correct or is it possible
to assign your own item numbers as they're asking?

Thanks,

Bill,
The index number ShopSite assigns is the database record number therefore
there is no easy to assign a specific product to a specific number. This
could however be done by arranging the items in the upload file to be in the
order you want them to be and then starting with a new ShopSite database
upload the data.

If the reason they are asking is to dynamically create OrderAnywhere buttons
then you can use the SKU. See the online help for 6.1 ShopSite Pro:

Images blow up in SS 6.1

Hi,

I use a custom template and the template image area is set to auto to
accommodate varying sizes of images. Yet some images get "blown up"
automaticaaly by ss pro.

1) This image here is smaller than it displays:

http://www.exerciseequipmentpadding.com ... duct0.html

2) This image is comes out correctly, using the exact same template.

http://www.exerciseequipmentpadding.com ... uct34.html

Can someone advise me on what may be causing this?

Thanks, kevin

The HTML tag for that image is:

<img
src="http://www.exerciseequipmentpadding.com/store/media/18A-01.jpg"
width=885 height=641 alt="18A-01.jpg" hspace=3 vspace=3 border=0>

So the image is displaying as it is defied in the HTML. The image HTML is
generated from the Image Attributes file that is created when the image
is uploaded, basically the headers of the image file is examined to
determine the size. If these have been messed with (perhaps an image of
the same name was uploaded first and so the attribute file has those
values), then you should just be able to select all of the images and
click the Reset Image Attributes button and all attributes will be reset
to whatever they would have been when first uploaded.
