/html /body closing tags on main pages

Postby Bill Werle » Sat Aug 31, 2002 7:47 pm

Hello,

The following is an email I received from a customer of ours. I looked at my
new site I'm building and he's right. The closing tags are in the "More
Info" pages I create but not any "main" pages that I create.
Does he have a legitimate complaint? I have to assume this is by design and
Shopsite has a reason for this. If so can I get a reasonable explanation for
the customer.

<----Customers Email------->
ShopSite does not seem to want to create closing </html> and closing </body>
tags. This could end up being a serious issue with many search engines.
Is there a reason why it does not do this? Perhaps an over site on the
makers part?
Since listing these pages is rather important, I hope there is a way to
correct this issue. I'd say it is a bug, however, they may have a reason for
it.

The problem is, bug or reason notwithstanding, not having them is a
submission issue that is going to get in the way with more than a few
engines, etc.
<------ End Customers Email-------->

Thanks,

Bill Werle

Good point, my bad.
Shopsite 6.1 manager on Linux.

Examples here.
http://www.decalfactory.com/shopsite/ma ... ecals.html
http://www.grizzlymtngifts.com

Sites are created with a shopsite default template, nothing special, no
custom templates, etc....

Thanks!

I just looked at several of our main pages and they do have the tags. You
might
want to give the ShopSite version that you are using and links to a couple
of
pages for people to look at. We use ShopSite Pro SC 4.3.

This was reported to us recently and a fix will be in the next release.
The problem only occurs on the Lefty theme/template.

Thanks Jim,

This explains why none of our other shopsites that use shopsite themes
display this behavior.
