Category Chooser Application

The 6.1 help file has a page called "Create a "Category Chooser"
Application." Is this something that HAS TO BE used in a mall or can I just
use it as a way to organize all of the categories in my store?

I have my own dedicated Linux (Debbian) box hosted at NeoSpire. Would they
have a CGI program that does this or does anyone know of a PERL or such that
is out there that can do this?

Thanks,

Andy

The purpose of that API/feature is so that malls/portals can collect
product information from multiple stores (via an XML files that is
generated when you Publish) so that they can create their own central
search engine for the products in the mall. I do not believe that it
would assist you in organizing the categories in your mall at all, and
it would be quite a lot of work. While I have known of portals/malls
using this feature, I do not know of any who are selling their code as a
plug-in.

Thanks for the reply.

I already have 17 categories on my site and growing and I may get to a point
where I have 1000+ items on the site. Dynamic Sub categories would really
help if I don't want to have 50-75 items on each page. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy
