Declined Orders

Postby Marianne Cooley » Wed Jul 31, 2002 7:17 pm

I was wondering, now that we have automated credit card processing, if there
is a report somewhere -- or a way to see -- declined orders. I would hope
that most would fix their error, but are they all just lost?

Thanks,
Marianne

This may depend on what real-time gateway you are using. If the gateway
collects this info and can show you a report of declined transactions in
their web interface, then there you go (I am pretty sure Authorize.net
has this capability, not sure about any others in particular). ShopSite
does not collect this information.

If you feel that you are losing orders because someone is not able to
properly fill in the information online or there is a problem with their
payment method or for whatever reason, then a better solution than
cold-calling them (who knows how they would feel about you having/using
their information if they didn't complete a business transaction with
you) might be to provide more help links, email addresses, and phone
numbers on your site and in the shopping cart so that they feel
comfortable contacting you to place an order if there is an issue, and
can easily do so because of the amount of contact info available.
