CheckOut Question

I have received a couple of complaints from customers regarding the checking
out process. I have several items where the customer has to actually type in
what they want. Example, a sample package of fragrances. They need to list
their sample choices from our selection of fragrances. They select this,
type in their selections and return to shopping. Yet when they purchase
something else and are taken back to the cart, this information is now gone
from the text box. The sample package is still selected but what they typed
in is gone. Suggestions on how to fix this problem. Currently, I have it so
that the cart is shown each time they make a purchase. Would it be wiser for
me to not have this option and that it only comes up when they View Cart? I
am using FP2002 with OrderAnywhere. Also is there a way I can link in FP to
the cart using Order Anywhere. So that I can have a button at the top of my
page that says Shopping Cart and it takes them to the cart to finalize their
purchase. Perhaps I have overlooked something? Thank you!!

It's working just fine in your store from what I can tell. I ordered one of the
products you were
talking about here:

http://www.beautycafe.com/sample_package.htm

When I place an item in the cart, add text to the text field for the product,
Return to Shopping,
then View Cart again, the text is still in the cart. I repeated this several
times in both Netscape and IE. I would guess
that the people who experience this problem are using the browser Back button to
return to shopping,
rather than the Return to Shopping button (clicking on a ShopSite button is the
only way the new info
in the cart can get updated, I don't think there is a way ShopSite can update
the cart when the shopper uses the browser controls rather than the ShopSite
buttons). If they used the browser Back button instead of the Return to Shopping
button, the symptoms you reported are the exact symptoms I would expect to see,
simply because of the fact that the text information (or ANY changes to the
cart) can't be saved in the cart when the Back button is used.

To answer your second question, yes you can get one of the View Cart buttons
from OrderAnywhere (or just use one that is already on one of your store pages)
and place that link on your main header frame via FrontPage. All of the View
Cart buttons on the site should all work the same, there is nothing
product-specific about them.
