Custom Shipping API in 6.1 ??

Hello,

This sounds like a promising feature. Can somebody tell me more about what
this can do? Is there any 3rd party software like this available to buy
right now?

I think this could solve some of our problems if it is what I think it is.

Thanks,

I'm not sure, but I am hoping that this feature allows the integration of
the USPS shipping rates by Zone, although I understand that ShopSite cannot
actually do the integration because of an agreement not to with UPS.

Help on the custom shipping API can be found at:
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.1/en-US/ ... .spec.html.

Essentially ShopSite passes information about the items being purchased
(name, price, weight, dimension, quantity, etc) and merchant and customer
locations (counrty and zip information, locale, etc) to the merchant
supplied script. The merchant's script uses that information to compute
shipping charges for various options and returns to ShopSite 3 values: a
status, error string and a list of shipping options with the cost for
each. ShopSite then displays the shipping options in either a pull down
list or with radio buttons for each otpion.

Thanks Jim; Now the challenge is to find someone who can supply the script.
Anyone out there interested?

Yes, has anybody ever used these APIs? I haven't heard of anybody using
them! Who can create these?

Our Web store host (www.lexiconn.com) is looking into this. You may email
them at mailroom@lexiconn.com to inquire.

I hope to have a USPS script written that will spit out shipping options and
charges based on the merchant and customer shipping addresses soon. I'll
let folks know when I have something usable.
